A Magical First Birthday Celebration

Unicorns are all the rage right now. Every parent is looking to make their kids birthday parties sparkle and shine with fun themed decor. So we weren’t surprised when we got an inquiry from a cool set of parents who were looking to make their daughter’s first birthday party full of unicorns and rainbows!

The party took place in the private room of a chic restaurant uptown called Avra Madison. They have delicious food and their restaurant decor was the perfect blank slate to build off of for this party!

The parents, Leslie and Jonathan, really wanted to have an impactful piece of decor for guests right as they entered the room. So we decided to come up with a beautiful backdrop that was huge and perfect for guests to take pics in front of with the birthday girl, Alessandra!

We worked with a pastel color palette to create this layered backdrop. Maggie went to the garment district and sourced these beautiful silky pieces of fabric that perfectly matched our color scheme. Then her and I worked to cut each piece into long strips so we would be able to create this layered look. On top of this, we worked with Bombshell Graphics to create a sign that read “Alessandra’s First Birthday” . It was the centerpiece over our backdrop and a fun keepsake for the parents after the event was over!

Finally, to finish our backdrop decor we created this luxe ballon garland to surround the entire thing.

Off to the side of the room, we also worked with Leslie and Jonathan to create a decadent dessert bar. Mini Melanie helped bring our vision to life with their intricate designs! We completed our fabulous table with neon signs, a custom made fringe “1”, florals, and spray painted unicorns!

For our main dining tables, we kept things simple by adding a long table runner with unicorns and florals on top.

At each place setting we added custom name cards in the shape of a shooting star and on some of the chairs we also added balloons tied to pastel ribbons!

To complete our room, we added a little kids corner for little Alessandra to sit as she enjoyed her musical performance. We decked it out with pastel fur carpets, fun pillows, and a few instruments for her to play with as she watched.

We are in awe over how beautiful this celebration turned out! We can’t wait for our next unicorn bash.

XO,
Natalie
