Easter-ey Lemon Drops

I cannot believe how early Easter is this year. It crept up on me so quickly!

For my Easter cocktail, I wanted to make something springy and festive.  This last week saw some beautiful weather in NYC, and I went out for drinks with some friends.  I saw a lemon drop on the menu, and was instantly inspired.  I ordered one, and it hit the spot, and I knew that I had to make it this week.

Here's what you need: -your favorite vodka (I used Tito's) -lemon juice -sugar -fresh lemons -ice

Here's what to do: 1) Take one of your fresh lemons and zest onto a flat plate.  Add spoonful of sugar to plate of lemon zest and mix together. 2) Take a wedge of your fresh lemon and use to wet the rim of your cocktail glass. Turn glass upside down and place on plate with sugar and lemon zest to line the rim of each glass. 3)Place your cocktail glasses upright.  Fill each glass halfway with ice cubes. 4) Add 1 oz. of vodka, 1 oz. lemon juice and 1 tsp. sugar to each glass. 5) Stir ingredients gently in each glass.  Garnish with fresh lemon slice and lemon zest.

Not only are these gorgeous, but they are super light and refreshing.. and a great drink to get you in the mood for spring.  The bright yellow of the lemon juice is so fitting for Easter and makes this a perfect option to serve at a family holiday gathering.

I styled these with some chocolate eggs (YUM), peeps and a few gorgeous marbled eggs that Michelle made for another shoot last week.  I am so obsessed with how stunning these drinks and eggs look together.

Enjoy, and have a Happy Easter!
