Fest Märzen Whiskey Beertail

One of my favorite things about Fall is all of the excellent Oktoberfest and Pumpkin-flavored beers that come into season.  My new favorite this year is the delicious Fest Märzen Lager brewed by Narragansett.

It was based on Bavarian style beers and brewed in the traditional German Oktoberfest style... aka it is rich and exactly what you should be drinking when the weather drops below 65 degrees.

When our friends at Narragansett sent us a few cases of the Fest Märzen to test out, I immediately fell in love and knew it had to be that base of one of my October creations. I wanted to make a cocktail that combined some key seasonal Fall flavors, and also packed that extra punch to warm you up. The winning combo? Beer and whiskey.

Here's what you need: -Narragansett's Fest Märzen Lager -whiskey -ginger beer -cinnamon -sugar -apple wedge

Here's what to do: 1) Using your apple wedge, wet the rim of your cocktail glasses.  Combine sugar and cinnamon on a flat plate and line the wetted rim of your glass so that the cinnamon and sugar coats the rim.

2) Measure 1/2 oz. of whiskey into each cocktail glass. 3) Pour lager on top of whiskey, filling each glass about 3/4 of the way.

4) Top each glass with ginger beer.  Sprinkle leftover cinnamon and sugar on the top of each drink and serve!

Now, tell me that those first few sips with the cinnamon sugar rim aren't incredible.

Cheers, and Happy Fall! Until next week...
