Super Bowl Sunday

Well the Super Bowl is tomorrow and you have people coming over but nothing planned. Not to worry! We have a couple of last minute tips (literally thought of these ideas on the fly) to add a little extra fun to your evening without breaking the bank…

First, you’re going to have plenty of water for your guests to drink throughout the night right? Write a Super Bowl related word on the back of each bottle (ie. touchdown, car (commercial), Whistle). None of your guests will know their bottle has a word on it till you (the host) announces it. You (the host) will also be in control of this game (of course feel free to assign this job to your partner or kid if you have no interest). Every time one of the words comes into play, you assign a Prize or Penalty to the person with that water bottle (PS - if you are not serving bottled water, simple use scrap pieces of paper and have everyone draw one when they arrive). Prizes can be simple things like a bag of chips (we found a bag of Bourbon Kettle Brand chips too perfect for those routing for Kansas City!), bottle of wine (we love the half bottles of Hampton Water Rosé, small pack of beer, sweatbands, anything really! Rotate between prizes and penalties as you wish. Penalties can be silence till the next quarter, give up your seat on the couch, chug a beer….

Another really fun idea is to set up cups on the table in 3 rows. Assign a number to each representing the points you receive for each row of cups. Put out a bowl of peanuts and have your guests play peanut pong, tossing the peanuts into the cups. The person with the most points wins!

To decorate we used the simplest of items that we found in our craft cupboard! We put up yellow streamers and black tape to make a goal post on the wall. We set out snack boxes with black stripes (referee like) so you can build your own snack box to eat on the couch while watching the game and we covered the peanut game portion of the table with kraft paper for easy clean up.

Whatever you do, we hope you have fun! Go Team. Whatever that means, I’m just here for the food.
