Garden Fail

Well folks…I may look cute holding a watering can but I have officially confirmed, I do not have a green thumb. In the past I blamed the animals for eating my plants and a slew of other excuses but after putting up a fence and giving gardening one last shot, I have failed. I do believe that my issue is the sun. I planted my garden in an area that gets sun for the whole morning, however it’s completely shady for the afternoon. That just doesn’t work.

My basil had died instantly. I tried to replant him into a pot and place in an area with full sun, but he never great back. May my basil R.I.P.

My cherry tomato plant grew to the sky BUT the tomatoes never turned red! They were GREEN! And tasted like poison.

My cucumber plant grew great lengths and spread all over the fence attaching himself beautifully and growing zillions of yellow flowers that should have led to cucumbers….but again. Fail. The cucumbers were oddly shaped and tiny. I got 2 actual cucumbers that grew over the entire summer.

My zucchini, never stood a chance. I do believe that I didn’t even plant it right to begin with. It needed a high bed of soil and most certainly more light. I got a ton of squash blossoms that would bloom and then they’d be gone with no zucchinis to follow. Even when the plant was at his most dead…he still continued to bloom with squash blossoms. ODD. R.I.P.

Bottom line here…I’m good at some things and not at others. Let’s put gardening on the list of something I’m not good at. Something I am good at? GARDEN PARTIES! You bring the garden and I’ll bring the party. I can turn your farm fresh veggies into a gorgeous crudités! Let’s do it!
