How to Get Your Kids Excited To Go Back To School

When I was a kid, I would get SO excited for the first day of school. While I wasn’t the smartest kid in my class, I loved seeing my friends, starting a new year with a blank slate, and getting new school supplies!

Ever since then, I can’t help but have a bit of jealously for all these kids getting to go back to school! So while I can’t go back myself, I can help you plan an awesome celebration to get your kids prepped for the big day.

One way to get your kids excited, especially if they’re younger, is by letting them be a part of choosing their school snacks or meals. One year we planned a snack bag decorating station so the kids could draw all over them and fill them up with their favorite snacks that they’d eventually find in their lunch boxes. We stocked up the decorating station with markers, stickers, stamps, and of course added some fun decor like the balloons we made look like apples.

As I said before, I LOVED shopping for new supplies every year. So take your kids with you to the store! Let them pick out a new backpack, lunch box, a fresh set of crayons, or a folder with a favorite character on it. One thing my mom used to do with me that I found the most fun was I got to pick out a new outfit for the first day of school. This would make the first day an “event” (are you surprised a became a party planner? haha).

A cool idea is to set up an “office” for your kids. By office, I really mean desk area. But calling it an office definitely makes it sounds more fun and has the possibility of getting your kids excited about doing doing work there! Last year Seri created two fun “offices” for each of her boys while they were doing homeschool. So check out her blog post to get some ideas for your own!

Now, if you want to get the neighborhood kids involved - have them make a fun sign to hang up in front of the house the first week of school to thank teachers! How awesome would it be for a teacher to be driving to work and see a sign like that?! I always say it - teachers are too good for us. They deal with too much and get paid too little. This a fun and inexpensive way to thank them for all the hard work they do every year for our kids!

And last but not least, if you really want to razzle dazzle your kids and their friends, order a custom back to school party in a box! All you need to do is fill out a custom box inquiry form. Tell us what your kids favorite subject is, their school colors, a sport they’re excited to start playing again, or just leave it up to us and we’ll create a super cute party assortment that’ll be perfect to post on Instagram the first day of school!

Here’s hoping for another great school year! Good luck everyone!
