The perfect night for a fiesta

After Labor day has come and gone, I often find myself nostalgic for the summer. Don't get me wrong - I love the fall, I really do. But there is something about the summer that is special. And so, imagine our surprise when a late September event was as warm and sunny as mid-July; without the humidity, of course. It was the perfect night for a fiesta. A fiesta, you ask? That's right - An Engagement Fiesta. Jen and Nick are getting married at one of the most gorgeous Mexican resorts of Mayakoba and asked Seri and I to help plan an equally chic and fitting engagement party for them. Margaritas? Check. Tacos and tostadas? Check. This is why we love what we do. We met the happy couple on their building's outdoor rooftop space and were immediately inspired. It is one of those NYC spaces you dream about having access to. Our planning began the moment we stepped foot outside. Tacombi, an amazing taqueria on Elizabeth street, would set the scene for the perfect party food. Is there anyone out there who doesn't love homestyle Mexican food? Pair that delicious food with with a prickly pear or spicy jalepeno margarita, and you have yourself a party! I know what you're thinking...what is a prickly pear margarita? Let's start with the prickly pear, a cactus that produces a luscious and delicious fruit from which prickly pear syrup is made. One of the wedding colors is vibrant pink, so Jen fell in love with the idea of the signature drink being vibrant pink -- and so we made it happen -- and boy, was it delicious! To offset the the sweetness of the prickly pear, we also served a spicy jalepeno margarita that was equal parts spicy and refreshing. Every week we fall more and more in love with flowers. And then this event came along and WOW. We fell more in love. The color combos, the textures, the shapes...I immediately declared them the best event flowers of our career. Thanks to G Page and Seri's impeccable eye for color. Displayed in recycled tomato cans and on top of Mexican inspired fabric, they were perfect. In addition to the gorgeous blooms, we added succulents and some wild flowers displayed in milk glass and gold sprayed terra-cotta vases to round out the selection. To personalize the event we had custom made traditional Mexican paper banners made for the soon to be couple. Nothing says heat like chile peppers...and we had plenty. Dried chile garland, fresh long peppers and adorable pepper plants only added to our authentic Mexican vibeIn addition to the always gorgeous Hedge Bar we have used at so many of our recent events, Please B Seated also supplied us with this crazy cool wooden cart we were psyched to use. There we set out salted jalepeno lollipops tied with custom favor tags and fun photo props for the guests to let loose with. Jen and Nick, wishing you all of the best on your amazing journey. Thanks for letting us be a part of such a fun and festive fiesta! Thank you to Karilyn Sanders for the gorgeous photography!
