Singin’ in the Rain…in Tribeca

We absolutely love love here at LMP.  And while we love being involved in every type of event we design, nothing makes us happier than seeing the happiness surrounding a bridal shower, and the glow that only a Bride-to-be can exude.  And this gorgeous bridal shower we planned for Sas Goldberg a few weeks back was no exception!! When the cousin of the Bride came to us with a description of Sas, we put our thinking caps on and started to brainstorm ways of making this shower very much her style.  We knew she was a foodie, but still very low key, so our venue selection had to match.  We immediately thought of Locande Verde, one of our absolute favorite restaurants in NYC, located in Tribeca.  Not only is the food delicious, but the feel is very rustic, casual and energetic.  And even better the private room in the back is completely private, has it’s own bar and is simply a gorgeous and roomy space for 50 people. Perfect !!

Now for the look of the shower.  We also learned that Sas is an actress with a very big personality, so we wanted to incorporate theater into the theme.  While on a trip to California last November, I found myself driving in the rain, spotted someone with yellow rain boots on and it came to me….Singin’ in the Rain!  It was the perfect thing to tie together a beautiful love story, Broadway, and “showers!”  Done and done.  We were so very excited to start working on our design ideas.

Locande Verde has two long wooden farm tables they set up for seated brunch.  Because all courses are served family style, we made sure to keep all flower arrangements short and not too overwhelming on the tables.  Down the center of the tables we set out short mercury glass vases filled with bright yellow and white blooms.  In between each vase, we found these dainty white lace umbrellas which were such an amazing accent.  Black and white pictures of the happy couple in white wooden frames were placed in between the vases and umbrellas.

One of our absolute favorite elements of the tables were our menus.  Locande usually prints menus on regular paper, and they would have been fine…but we had an even more fabulous idea.   Check out these amazing Playbill inspired menus our girl Ali designed for us !! They were a perfect fit.  And to tie it all together we found mini lamp post place cards for each guests name.  The tables were gorgeous…if we do say so ourselves!

The private room at Locande Verde also features a stunning fireplace, which was perfect to introduce more decor elements.  We framed vintage Singin in the Rain posters, one of which was the iconic lamp post scene.  Clusters of white and bright yellow flowers in large mercury glass urns and hurricanes lined the mantel ledge.

We used two larger white lace umbrellas on either side of the mantel, which tied in the tables beautifully.  And in the center, we created a beautiful sign for “Sas’s Bridal Shower.”

As guests entered the room, we wanted to have some sort of way for them to know which table they were seated at.  So we created a board with a large photo of the couple and all guests names listed below.  It was a great focal point as guests entered and also served a very important purpose!  On the bar behind the seating board, we wanted to create a visually appealing entrance.  Bright yellow Hunter Rain boots were the perfect vessel for creating a floral display.  We set out another white lace umbrella and photos of the couple, to tie it all together.

An obvious favor for this shower was an umbrella.  But any lace umbrella would not be very useful when it actually rains!  Sas’s aunt was actually able to find these gorgeous and functional umbrellas which we displayed as guests walked in.  A favor tag thanking guests for coming was hung on each.  So cute!!

Getting married is a very big step in life, and it’s always nice to hear the words and wisdom from women who have many happily married years under their belts!  Towards the back of the room, we set up a place for guests to leave the bride a word of advice.  We created little umbrella cards for guests to write on, and set out a small yellow box for Sas to collect her advice and take it home with her.

From the photos you can see Sas is loved by many.  There were speeches and toasts from many of her closest friends and family members.  You can actually feel the love through these gorgeous photos, all shot by our girl Raquel Bianca.
