Hidden in Sag Harbor

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…we have met some of the most fabulous people since launching Little Miss Party Planner. Earlier this year we connected with a couple of gents who had been together for 25 years since they met in college, and who wanted to make it official. They had a general idea of what they hoped their wedding weekend would look like and brought us on to execute it all. We couldn’t have been more honored and were so grateful to be a part of such a special weekend.

To kick things off they had a backyard barbecue at their fabulous home in Sag Harbor to welcome all of their guests. Tucked away in the trees on a beautiful pond, their home set the most perfect scene for the celebration.

We designed the weekend with a focus on Klaus & Waseem’s cultural influence with a South East Asian menu and décor elements. Waseem is from Bangladesh and Klaus is from Denmark which we played off of for the wedding. Family and friends had traveled in from all over the world to celebrate the union of these two so we made sure to incorporate many special details to show just how important this was to them.

Since Klaus & Waseem’s home in Sag Harbor is on a slope of trees leading down to a pond we wanted to create an area where the guests could hang out at their leisure with drinks and food. We set up a tent in the front of their home to do this. We put the bar underneath as well as chairs and cocktail tables in rustic wood with white linens and the most fabulous runners from Saffron Marigold.

We stocked the bar with cute waiters, tons of plastic tumblers which we love for outdoor parties, a rosemary lemonade and LMP personalized water bottles.

The color palette for this party was bold and bright with fuchsia, gold, purple and pops of chartreuse. Another inspiration board we just love and have to share!

For décor we set up small but meaningful details throughout. We set electric tea lights in lanterns filled with lentils, used bamboo plates and gold damask napkins for dinner, lined wood trays with purple gum balls for dessert, and placed tea light holders next to bright colored flowers in bud vases. Our favorite look to this party were the globe lights strung through the trees in the backyard and the red lanterns hanging in the tent out front.

As for the catering, we brought in the amazing Janet O’Brien. It was our first time working together and we had the most fabulous time with her all around! She came up with the most delicious, creative and beautiful menu for our theme. And she pulled it off with class and ease. The guests devoured the food and we just loved working with Janet. She is our go to caterer now for the Hamptons!

Last but not least…was the photographer that these guys hired to capture the memories of this weekend for them. Dave Robbins Photography. We couldn’t be luckier to have met this guy. What a find. Dave was so wonderful to work with. He was personable, fun and as you can see from many of the shots on this blog today…incredibly talented. Dave captured numerous meaningful moments during the course of this evening including when all of Klaus & Waseem’s friends gathered for speeches, songs and performances. The adults and kids in attendance were captivated by the efforts that were made. And Klaus & Waseem were deeply touched.
It was a beautiful night and perfect way to start the festivities. We can’t wait to show and tell you more…next up, the wedding!
To be continued…
