Flowers for Mom

Flowers are a classic gift option for Mother’s Day. There’s nothing wrong with finding the perfect bouquet for your mom and handing it over on Sunday morning, but here’s a way you can make it just a little more special.

Natalie and I decided to take the flower theme to the next level by setting up this tablescape for Seri and her family. We found a beautiful bouquet of flowers, which we put into a vase that matched the color scheme. Then we took a few peony stems out and added them to clear bud vases to line the table.

Finally, we took out 1 flower for each person to use as a final touch on the place settings. I used ribbon as place cards by tying a neat bow and writing the names on one side. We find that giving each person a place at the table is an extra way to make them feel special, so this is especially nice to do on Mother’s Day, when making mom feel special is the most important thing we can do.

Of course, the most fun part for me was creating the custom painted runner. Once I knew the color scheme of our bouquet, Natalie picked out a set of our favorite CB2 plates. Basing the artwork on these things, I was able to make a painted runner that matched perfectly! While I know this is not something that would be considered “easy” for everyone to do at home, know that you can achieve a similar look just by purchasing a pretty floral wrapping paper. Just measure it to the length of your table, and perhaps trim it in half to get the thin look I showed here!

Our finishing touches were more pops of PINK. We added pink tea lights and pink cups to the table. Natalie cut down some fabric we had to create cloth napkins- another easy hack! Don’t feel like you have to go out and purchase cloth napkins if you have something at home you can make them out of. An old sheet? An outdated tablecloth? Make use of something you’re not attached to anymore and instantly you have a professional looking table setting.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there, and to our “work mom,” Seri. We sincerely appreciate all that you do to take care of us!
