Celebrating Mother's Day in Quarantine

Ok so listen up everyone……. Mother’s Day this year is May 10th. But as well all know, this like every other significant day that has passed us by isn’t going to be business as usual.

Mother’s Day I usually get together with my whole family for brunch at a restaruant. It’s easy, mom doesn’t have to clean and of course we treat her so its a nice little afternoon outing.

This year will require effort from all of us. Dads - your children will not be bringing home cute crafts they made in school for mom. So YOU have to be the art teacher this year.

As I was trying to get some ideas about what to do for my own mother, I figured I’d round up some of our fab content from the last couple of years that can be adapted into the quarantine lifestyle we are all doing at the moment.

Ahead of Mother’s Day I’m planning to send some care packages out to a few of the moms in my life who need a little pick me up! Last year we sent a few little boxes out that were SO cute. I’ve been doing this for birthdays in the last couple of weeks and it been going great! How I’ve been doing it is going to a site like Target, Amazon, etc and picking out a few inexpensive items to fill up in a gift bag and then adding a card with a personalized note!

No holiday is a holiday without a delicious meal. Traditionally I do brunch, I’ll probably still do that this year. But as a nice little add on I will also make a fabulous dinner because its not like I have other commitments I need to attend to, haha. And besides - mom deserves it!

My inspo for this year’s brunch comes from this gorgeous charcuterie spread Debi made two years ago. You can read all about it here. It’s seriously the most gorgeous spread I’ve ever seen. I’ll fill my charcuterie board with tons of fruits, french toast, bacon (for everyone else since I’m a vegetarian, haha), and stacks of mini pancakes with syrup to dip them in!

The next step is to set up some fun decor. The easiest route you can go is by purchasing one our Love You More Party in a Boxes - yes thats a shameless plug. But it really has everything you need - tableware, a gift for mom, baking supplies, the works! It even includes a coloring page for your kids (if you have them) to do for mom so you don’t have to worry about piecing together some sort of craft at the last minute!

If you’re looking for something a bit more intricate, over the years we’ve done tons of cool stuff that you can find all over our blog. One of my favorites is this fringe installation we did last year. And OK, I realize not everyone has a ton of fringe lying around like we do but you could totally remake this idea with something inexpensive like streamers!

Another cool idea that you could do as decor is go out to your backyard and cut any flowering bushes you see that are blooming! For inspo…. here is this amazing Cheery Blossom set up we did one year. While you probably won’t have Cherry Blossoms, you may have hydrangea, roses, or something similar!

No holiday is complete without alcohol. I’m planning on making this delicious Prosecco cocktail so that me and my fam can sip on it all day long. This cocktail recipe is SO easy to make. I won’t be drinking it poolside like we did for this post unfortunately but if the weathers nice I can at least drink it while on the hammock!

And last but not least….. DO NOT forget to get your mom a gift. We’ve rounded up a whole bunch of awesome stuff that you can still prime just in time for Sunday so GET ON IT! Check out our 2020 gift guide here.

Good luck!!!!!
