Celebrating Hanukkah in 2021

So for as long as I’ve been apart of LMP, we’ve celebrated “Chrismakkah” which means we do both Christmas and Hanukkah together. Seri got her first tree the year I became a part of the team, and it’s now a staple for us during the holidays. It doesn’t really feel like Christmas without it.

And same goes for Hanukkah, ever since I became a part of LMP we have celebrated Hannukah together in some way. Now to be clear I am a “Shiksa” as Seri likes like to call me. Meaning, I am totally not Jewish. But honestly I have enjoyed learning from Seri and her family all of their traditions and now I try to recreate them in some ways…. like LATKES!

If you have not yet had a latke in your life then let me tell you, you are not living. And Seri, makes the BEST latke recipe (to be clear I am kind of biased as they are kind of the only latke’s I’ve had) but those bad boys are not easy to make. Linking her recipe here and take it from me, if you are going to try and make them follow each step exactly or you will end up with NOT crispy latke’s and no body wants that (take it from, it’s happened to me before).

Anyway, the last time Maggie and I were in Florida, we decided to set up an early Hanukkah celebration since we wouldn’t be able to celebrate together in person. We kept our decorations really simple with latkes of course, gold eucalyptus leaves, Seri’s pretty menorah, and other decorative elements like her gold candle sticks and “OY” vases.

We also made sure to dress up in blue which is the signature color of Hanukkah.

With LMP a little more spread out than we used to be, I love that we’re still trying to keep our own little traditions alive. And by celebrating it in October, we got to spread out the holidays even more!

If you celebrate Hanukkah or know someone who does, be sure to check out my holiday gift guide for some last minute gift ideas. Our Hanukkah Party in a Box would also make a fabulous gift!
