The Dance Party That Started It All (And Why We’re Doing It Again)

Something special happened the last time we turned The Social Society into a dance floor.

What started as a simple idea — open the doors, turn up the music, and give our community a place to dance — became one of those nights you wish you could bottle up. The energy, the laughter, the way strangers became friends within minutes… it reminded me exactly why we created this space in the first place.

The dance floor stayed full. People didn’t want the night to end. And the messages that came afterward were overwhelming:

“When are you doing this again?”
“That was the most fun I’ve had in forever.”
“Please tell me this is becoming a regular thing.”

So… we listened.

The next dance party was announced — inspired by a concept I love from New York City: start the party early, dance like crazy, and still be home at a reasonable hour. The perfect formula for a great night out.

And you all showed up before it even started.

Tickets sold out in just two days. Since then, my inbox has been full of people asking if there are any tickets left or if we can open more spots. That kind of excitement and support means the world to us. It tells me that what we’re building here isn’t just events — it’s a community.

But this upcoming party carries even more meaning for our team.

Many of you know Ann, who has been such an important part of The Social Society family. Recently, her son Finn had follow-up scans in Boston. His MRI showed that a small mass in his previous surgery site has grown slightly since his last scan late last year. His EEG also showed abnormal electrical activity, which means doctors will be closely monitoring him for potential seizures.

While the news was a gut punch for their family, Finn continues to amaze everyone with his strength and resilience. His care team — including the neuro-oncology director — has kept his treatment plan the same, though his MRI schedule will now move back to every 3–4 months so they can watch things closely.

Through it all, Ann and her family have been incredibly grateful for the love, prayers, and support that continue to surround them.

And that’s another reason these nights matter.

The Social Society has always been about more than party supplies or balloons. It’s about people. It’s about showing up for each other. It’s about creating moments of joy, even when life is complicated.

So this Friday, when the music starts and the dance floor fills again, it’s not just a party.

It’s a celebration of community. Of resilience. Of joy. And of the incredible people who make this place what it is.

If you managed to snag a ticket, I can’t wait to see you on the dance floor.

And if you missed this one… don’t worry. Something tells me this dance party tradition is just getting started.
