Mommy Moments in Westhampton Beach
Back in June...my friend Colette mentioned a "Mommy Moments salon" that she was organizing through the Westhampton Beach Preforming Arts Center and asked me if I'd like to participate. Colette knew all the kids classes but there was not enough being offered to the adults. She developed this weekly gathering for locals to come by and spend 45 minutes listening to different women speak about what they do. I was thrilled and flattered to be included in the mix!
For my Mom Salon, I told Colette I would speak about entertaining with ease. I started my talk off with the histroy of LMP, how I started the business when I became a mom and how I have taken the business to where it is today.
Then I took the audience through three different party set ups. I explained that to entertain with ease, you need to follow a simple formula including: a menu, tableware, decor and music.
The three different set ups were as follows:
1. The Last minute dinner Party: Beautiful paper, disposable products for the tableware, EASY decor: I filled a jar with fresh basil from my garden (!) and a simple menu of grilled burgers and a salad.
2. The cocktail party: I set this scenario as one where you would invite your friends over before heading to another party that night (like a dinner or fundraiser). Keep it simple here. Snacks like nut mix or chips, cocktail napkins, candles and cocktails.
3. The elegant dinner party: This is where I broke out the fine china (kidding, I used a white plate set from Ikea!), cloth napkins, gold flatware and flowers. I gave tips on how to set an elegant table without spending a fortune to do so.
The group of women who were listening to me speak were so impressed and told me that they learned so much from my session. I was so honored to speak about my business and the art of entertaining and felt so comfortable doing so. Huge thanks to my amazing friend Colette for putting this together and to the team at WHBPAC for all their help and support in seeing the Mommy Moments Salon through this summer!
